It's all about the decoration

I have three daughters. They are currently aged 20, 14 and 12. The 14 and 12 year olds are the only two left living at home. They have decided that they want a collective Christmas gift this year. They want, of all things, a bathroom makeover. I asked if we could throw in some new bathroom rugs and call it good. They outright rejected that idea.

They’re thinking more along the lines of new paint; getting rid of the nautical theme I’ve had in there for the past ten years and getting something funky. Like an animal print, or something really bright and colorful. I said if they were looking for bathroom rugs that looked like dead animals they were nuts because their bathroom is also the only guest bathroom in the house and this isn’t Jersey Shore.

That made me laugh. Then they decided to look at bathroom rugs online as a starting point and thankfully they came up with a very nice color scheme and found some matching accessories, including a nice shower curtain.

It’s hard to believe they’re growing up so fast. I remember when all they cared about was cartoons or playing outside. Now it’s all about the fashion and decorating.

Seeing America one state at a time

There are certain goals I have set for myself and what happens when I’m done with law school. Travel is one of those goals. I don’t mean just travel to Europe or Africa, I’m talking seeing America one state at a time. In order to do that, I want to plan yearly road trips. What I don’t want however is to cram all of us into a car and drive from state to state. Instead, I want an RV and I want to see America with the comforts of my quasi home. Because this is a serious goal I have set for myself, I have already started looking into rv loans and that way. When the time is right most of my leg work will have been completed.

Riding Helmets

I make my kids wear helmets when they ride their bikes. And their scooters. And their roller skates. And even the skateboard. But I never really thought about having them wear a helmet when they were riding horses at their grandparents’ house. Then I read about a young girl who fell from a horse she was riding around, very slowly I may add. The girl suffered a concussion and it is too early to know whether she will have any kind of brain injury or long lasting effects from her accident. Take heed people, wear riding helmets and make your loved ones wear them too.
