Rachel Ray, Ugh

Author: Joyce Mccall

Have you ever tried to cook one of Rachel Ray’s “easy, 30 minute meals?” I will tell you that they are easy and only take you 30 minutes if you’re a cooking genius. First of all, she never tells you all of the ingredients that you’ll need at the beginning. She pulls out “gravy that she has hanging out in her fridge from last night,” and “beans she kept just in case.” Sorry, Rachel, not everyone has gravy and beans and half a can of cream of mushroom soup in our kitchen. Also, another thing that bugs me is she doesn’t give you exact amounts of how much of an ingredient that you should add. “A little splash” doesn’t mean anything to me, and it stresses me out to now know exactly how much that “splashy” is. Is it a tablespoon or a teaspoon? No one knows. Even when I record it on my satellite (tvbydirect.com) and pause it in between every step I still can’t keep up. I guess I’m just not a ‘play it by ear’ cook!

Medicare Supplemental Plans

My husband and I are approaching our mid 40s. Now. This is young by many standards. However, in our minds, it is time to start thinking about things like Wills, Trusts, insurance and things like that. We’re worried about making sure our kids are taken care of, making sure we are taken care of and making sure our insurance needs are met. As such, we’ve been educating ourselves on the complexity of medicare and the various medicare supplement plans because I am of the belief that there is so much information to be learned if we don’t get a jump start on it now, we’ll be hosed later.

Holographic Sights

When I married my husband, he was a hunter of all things deer. He hunted with a muzzle loader and a bow. I’ve never seen him hunt, or express any desire to do so, with a rifle. However, he did say once that we would have better luck on an elk hunt with a high powered rifle and holographic sights. I will tell you this, we haven’t had good deer or elk since we moved from Utah. And I miss it. That’s good eatin!

Coupon Codes - Get your SHOPPING on!

I have another blog where I list coupons codes and sites offering deals at the moment. I think in this day and age, this economy, it really is in our own best interest to do some comparative shopping, coupon clipping, coupon downloading and the using coupon codes whenever we shop online. If the companies are going to provide us with deals, who are we to turn our noses up and NOT save some money. Silly, right? That’s what I thought . Now, I coupon every week before I do the grocery shopping and I have not bought anything online that didn’t have a coupon code or discount attached to it. My job is to provide for my family, and I can do that much better when I’m saving money.
